With great anticipation, I invite you to String Theory Season Eighteen — an exhilarating season celebrating virtuosity, artistry, and imagination.

Our season opens with the debut of British violist Timothy Ridout and clarinetist José Franch-Ballester. The evening unfolds with a program of Romantic lyricism, from Horovitz's elegant Sonatina, to Schubert's melancholic Arpeggione Sonata, and Bruch's characterful Eight Pieces — together, these works form a lyrical tapestry of color, interplay, and poetic expressions for clarinet, viola and piano.

Cello phenom Zlatomir Fung returns with a rare solo recital featuring Bach's towering Cello Suites Nos. 1, 2, and 3. These works stand as the pinnacle of music writing. In this intimate setting, they offer a transcendent experience into the profound depth of these monumental masterpieces.

Legendary bassist Edgar Meyer will be joined by his son, violinist George Meyer, and mandolin master Mike Marshall. This genre-bending evening will blur the boundaries between classical, bluegrass, folk, and improvisation, with a curated program to be revealed from the stage.

The highly anticipated return of the Danish Quartet will feature Ravel's shimmering String Quartet, and I look forward to collaborating with them in Shostakovich's Piano Quintet — a dramatic work of striking intensity and warmth.

In March, we continue celebrating America at 250 with a program highlighting the Sounds of America, featuring a dazzling transcription of Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, beloved spirituals and folk songs including Shenandoah and Deep River, and Amy Beach's gorgeous Piano Quintet — marking the String Theory debuts of two brilliant violinists Richard Lin and Oliver Neubauer, violist Paul Neubauer, and cellist Mihai Marica.

We will close our season with an electrifying evening of Andy Akiho's iconic Seven Pillars with the trailblazing Sandbox Percussion. This Grammy-nominated work spans 70 minutes and is performed from memory — a display of pure athleticism, precision and artistry — an evening not to be missed!
